A brief report on the IN SITU capacity building and skill development programme, designed to foster entrepreneurial social and business models and innovation in each of the six IN SITU Lab regions and to correspond to the needs of cultural and creative agents in these areas.

From 19 to 21 February 2024, the IN SITU partners came together in Galway, Ireland – one of the IN SITU Lab locations – to analyse and discuss the present state of research and practice, as well as to jointly plan the next chapters of this dynamic Horizon Europe-funded project (Grant Agreement no. 101061747). This in-presence working meeting, themed “Contributions and Diversifications,” was hosted by the local IN SITU partner, the University of Galway (UG).

IN SITU announces the launch of a survey investigating the innovation potential of cultural and creative industries in non-urban areas. Focusing on IN SITU’s six Lab regions, the survey aims to discover CCI subsectors with high innovation potential, capable of acting as catalysts for economic development and significantly contributing to socioeconomic growth and sustainability in the EU.

The University of Galway’s UrbanLab is inviting artists, creative people and anyone interested to join a series of free workshops hosted in partnership with the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts from Sofia, Bulgaria. The workshops are taking place on 22-23 February 2024 as part of the Horizon Europe IN SITU project that supports the work of the creative and cultural industries in non-urban areas of Europe.

The investigations carried out in the latest reports from the University of Utrecht within their work for the IN SITU project underscore the importance of identifying and supporting occupations and trademarks related to cultural and creative activities, encouraging local policy interventions to foster growth and innovation, especially in non-urban regions. The insights derived can inform policymakers and inspire further research, providing a valuable evolutionary perspective on navigating challenges in the creative and cultural sector.
